Walk the Moon
Marcus Amphitheater
27 June 2013
Barely 24 hours after seeing Fall Out Boy, I had the pleasure of driving to Milwaukee to attend Summerfest.
I've never been to SummerFest, but it was an amazing experience! The whole area transformed from a small park area into a small music town! There were tons of jewelry booths, fashion booths, incense, food, music, etc! Even the rides were running!
We ended up walking around and stopping by each of the few stages, where numerous bands were playing. (Unfortunately, I had no idea who any of the other bands were...) All of the bands were amazing though, and each one had humongous crowds.
After finally tiring of the busyness, Jenni and I decided to head towards the main amphitheater to see Fun. perform. However, there were two opening bands, Family of the Year and Walk the Moon. Neither which I knew, but now both of them I really really like! Both had a fun alt-pop type sound, kinda like All- Time Low (before they became sellouts- just saying). We even found out that Walk the Moon are midwesterners too!
However, whatever excitement was felt during the opening bands could not be matched by the extreme and overpowering excitement that the crowd exuded when Fun. started playing. At first I had my doubts because it was a stadium concert, and I have never favored those, but my expectations were far exceeded!
The band was amazing! They were full of energy, and they had an amazing sound! Everyone in the audience knew the words to the songs, and the band sounded pitch perfect! My favorite part of the concert was at one point everyone in the audience took out their lighters and/or cell phones and waved them around like little stars throughout the stadium. It was very movie like, and even Nate Ruess cracked a huge grin and commented on how pretty it looked.
And of course, no concert is complete without a confetti drop!
