But I think that goes without saying, since I'm a teenage girl with access to a credit card.
The other day was the first day I got to go to a mall, since heading off to college a year ago. I got to hit up Woodfield Mall, Chicago's number one tourist attraction. I enjoyed spending the day with one of my best friends, visiting some of my favorite stores like Urban Outfitters, H&M, and Pac Sun.
I totally indulged myself and completely blew my first paycheck of the summer. My style is constantly changing and I've gone from the toddler in a tutu to an awkward middle schooler in the "emo" phase to a "don't give a care" high schooler. But now being in college, my style has transitioned once again. Lately, I've been wearing more of a mix between sweet and spunky, combining pieces like dresses and skirts with bold and funky tees and tanks.
Anywhos... here's a collection of the change from summer paycheck to summer wardrobe.
I needed, well really wanted, a pair of brown sunglasses, and these fit my face shape really well. They also were in the cat eye style, which is one of my "go to" styles of sunglasses. I think the style is a nice mix between sweet and indie. As an added bonus UO is having a sale in- stores where all their sunglasses are $10!
2. Riot Society Catastrophe Hi-Low Tee
This tee is simply adorable! Recently cats are a big pop culture thing, and this t-shirt incorporates cats in a funny pun. The image has two cats destroying everything. The hi- low cute is perfect because the front isn't a crop and reaches the waistband of my shorts. The material is also 100% cotton, which I am always a big fan of, so the shirt has a nice soft feel. It's simply purr-fect!
3. Tokidoki Ciao Unicorn Muscle Tee
I adore the brand tokidoki. Not only is it inspired by Japanese fashion and characters, but the style takes these cute characters and transform them into punky clothing. Muscle t-shirts are quickly becoming one of my favorite new styles because they're feel really nice and soft, and they have a nice baggy fit, which allows for a comfortable and stylish look. I usually wear mine with a tank or bandeau underneath, but when I'm relaxing at home, I usually toss on a sports bra instead.
Crop Tops are a new and big hit this summer. However, I don't really have the stomach to wear just these shirts by themselves, but I really love this style and thought the daisies and corset look are adorable. So instead, I plan to wear this with high waisted shorts or skirts because I think the daisies and the mesh give this shirt a nice summery look.
I normally don't buy guy's t-shirts, unless they're at a thrift store or from a concert. However, last October the Mitch Lucker, the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, Suicide Silence, died in a motorcycle accident. Lucker leaves behind a wife and 5 year old daughter. In response to Lucker's passing the music community bonded together and donated money to the Kenadee Lucker foundation, a charity set up by Suicide Silence to help pay for Lucker's daughter's education. This memoriam shirt is one of the shirts the foundation is selling to help pay for Kenadee's schooling.
For more information about the foundation check out the band's site http://www.suicidesilence.net/
I would have never guessed that I could wear, let alone fit in, a maxi skirt, seeing as I'm 5'1''. however, I have always been jealous of girls that could wear maxi skirts because the look is so classy, and it elongates the legs. But after my friend's relentless urging, I decided to try on a maxi skirt and to my surprise it fit perfectly! Granted, the model's picture has the skirt hitting a few inches above the ankle, and my skirt perfectly hits my ankles. This skirt is beautiful and simple, and I can't wait to wear it all summer with tanks, crops, and peter pan shirts.
7. Deena & Ozzy Purple Bag
While, I don't need yet another purse, this bag was so cute! Especially since it was on sale at UO, and it is in purple. The bag is large enough to fit all of my basic stuff, like my phone, my wallet, my keys, my notebook, and makeup, but the most important part is that it fits my DSLR camera. And any bag that fits my camera is amazing, since it is a bit large.
This bag is super cute! It's really light weight and really durable. I plan to use this all summer to carry all my stuff when I go on bike rides, walks to the library, and music festivals. The backpack even has side pockets on the inside!
So there's the total of my mall damage this week. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear these. With a new wardrobe and a year of college behind mee, I am ready to enjoy this summer!
