Makeup Haul

After numerous ice skating shows and awkward panda eye makeup in middle school, I am no stranger to makeup. However, despite what my daddy may complain, you can never have too much makeup! Along with my mall haul, I went on a slight makeup haul too.

Recently, I have turned away from drugstore brand names in favor of higher end brands. NYX has always been my favorite brand and I will always stand by it. They offer a wonderful color selection, and their eyeliners and eye shadow never fade. Toni Ko, the founder, is asian and being asian, it's really difficult to find makeup that works well with my skin type.

But I've also taken a liking to Urban Decay. Urban Decay offers a wide variety of bright colors in their eye shadows and eyeliner. The colors all last well, and their eye shadow primer only adds to their appeal. I've heard that Urban Decay also has great primers and setting sprays, so I bought some in an attempt to see for myself.

ULTA Haul:
ULTA is having a deal where any order of Urban Decay over $35 will get you a free gift of a 24/7 Eyeliner pencil. Also, if you don't have one yet, ULTA has a wonderful rewards program, where you build up points and receive various coupons, deals, and free items.

4. NYX Round Case Lipstick in Doll, Sunflower, Louisiana, and Eros

UrbanDecay.com Haul:

Urban Decay online is having tons of deals! Each one of the palettes I bought was overly on sale and the other things I bought each came with a free gift. I highly recommend buying Urban Decay products on their site because of these deals!

4. 24/7 Eyeliner in Yeyo

Mariposa Palette; Contains Rockstar, Gunmetal, Skimp, Infamous, Wreckage, Haight, Money, Mushroom, Spotlight, and Limelight

Ammo Palette; Contains Smog, Mildew, Oilslick, Last Call, Chopper, Maui Wowie, Shattered, Polyester Bride, Grifter, and Sin

Sears Haul:
Normally I don't shop (or even enter) Sears. However, being in desperate need of a bathroom after drinking a large iced tea, I went into Sears for the first time in a couple years. Sears carries all the same makeup as other generic makeup places, like ULTA. Although Sears is having a 50% of sale for all its makeup, regardless of the brand.

1. NYX For Your Eyes Only Palette for Mysterious Brown Eyes
3. NYX Round Case Lipstick in Indian Summer and Femme
4. Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie
6. Rimmel Natural Bronzer

NYX For Your Eyes Only Mysterious Brown Eyes Palette

All in all, that's my makeup haul! So excited to get to learn how to use all of these now! Well, maybe not learn how to use, but more of how to apply... either or, lots of fun new eye and lip looks to come!

Weekly Playlist: Summer Loving

Music is a huge part of my life and I constantly am creating different playlists. I want to share some of my music choices with you and create weekly playlists. Some will be themed, some will be what I'm listening to at the moment. The goal is to publish a new playlist containing 10 - 20 songs every Thursday.

So with that in mind....

This is the first playlist I want to share with you guys!

After finishing our final tests and essays, packing up our dorm rooms (or cleaning out our lockers for high schoolers), and finally leaving school for the last time of the year, we all know one thing. Summer has started!! With the start of summer we can enjoy long nights outside with friends, stay up late because we want to, not because we have to, eat ice cream outside, or simply read a book, while sitting in the sun. Either or, summer is a cherished time amongst all students because it provides a small break from the craziness of a school year.

While my summer started later than most because my  school got out mid- May, I am finally home and enjoying my time (and catching up on sleep)! However, the weather here has sucked a bit lately and I've been stuck inside because of colder weather and various thunderstorms.

I'm wishing next week will bring better weather and sunnier days!
But hopefully you can enjoy these songs driving with the windows down or sitting in the sun.

1. Walking on Sunshine - Aly and A.J.

2. The Remedy (I Won't Worry) - Jason Mraz

3. Say Hey (I Love You) - Michael Franti & Spearhead

4. Soak Up the Sun - Sheryl Crow

5. We'll Be Alright - Travie McCoy

6. Friday is Forever - We the Kings

7. Ain't No Rest for the Wicked - Cage the Elephant

8. Break Me Out - The Rescues

9. It's Time - Imagine Dragons

10. Smile - Uncle Cracker

11. Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard

12. San Francisco - The Mowgli's

13. Keep Your Head Up - Andy Grammer

14. Holding On to You - Twenty One Pilots

15. Great DJ - The Ting Tings

16. Purple - California Waves

17. Get It Right - The Downtown Fiction

18. Make Me Happy - Drake Bell

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay Happy!

Any suggestions for additional songs? Any opinions about songs on the list?
Comment and please let me know what you're thinking! Thanks guys!

Mall Haul

I LOVE shopping!!

But I think that goes without saying, since I'm a teenage girl with access to a credit card.

The other day was the first day I got to go to a mall, since heading off to college a year ago. I got to hit up Woodfield Mall, Chicago's number one tourist attraction. I enjoyed spending the day with one of my best friends, visiting some of my favorite stores like Urban Outfitters, H&M, and Pac Sun.

I totally indulged myself and completely blew my first paycheck of the summer. My style is constantly changing and I've gone from the toddler in a tutu to an awkward middle schooler in the "emo" phase to a "don't give a care" high schooler. But now being in college, my style has transitioned once again. Lately, I've been wearing more of a mix between sweet and spunky, combining pieces like dresses and skirts with bold and funky tees and tanks.

Anywhos... here's a collection of the change from summer paycheck to summer wardrobe.

I needed, well really wanted, a pair of brown sunglasses, and these fit my face shape really well. They also were in the cat eye style, which is one of my "go to" styles of sunglasses. I think the style is a nice mix between sweet and indie. As an added bonus UO is having a sale in- stores where all their sunglasses are $10!

2. Riot Society Catastrophe Hi-Low Tee
This tee is simply adorable! Recently cats are a big pop culture thing, and this t-shirt incorporates cats in a funny pun. The image has two cats destroying everything. The hi- low cute is perfect because the front isn't a crop and reaches the waistband of my shorts. The material is also 100% cotton, which I am always a big fan of, so the shirt has a nice soft feel. It's simply purr-fect!

 3. Tokidoki Ciao Unicorn Muscle Tee
I adore the brand tokidoki. Not only is it inspired by Japanese fashion and characters, but the style takes these cute characters and transform them into punky clothing. Muscle t-shirts are quickly becoming one of my favorite new styles because they're feel really nice and soft, and they have a nice baggy fit, which  allows for a comfortable and stylish look. I usually wear mine with a tank or bandeau underneath, but when I'm relaxing at home, I usually toss on a sports bra instead.

Crop Tops are a new and big hit this summer. However, I don't really have the stomach to wear just these shirts by themselves, but I really love this style and thought the daisies and corset look are adorable. So instead, I plan to wear this with high waisted shorts or skirts because I think the daisies and the mesh give this shirt a nice summery look.

I normally don't buy guy's t-shirts, unless they're at a thrift store or from a concert. However, last October the Mitch Lucker, the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, Suicide Silence, died in a motorcycle accident. Lucker leaves behind a wife and 5 year old daughter. In response to Lucker's passing the music community bonded together and donated money to the Kenadee Lucker foundation, a charity set up by Suicide Silence to help pay for Lucker's daughter's education. This memoriam shirt is one of the shirts the foundation is selling to help pay for Kenadee's schooling.
For more information about the foundation check out the band's site http://www.suicidesilence.net/

I would have never guessed that I could wear, let alone fit in, a maxi skirt, seeing as I'm 5'1''. however, I have always been jealous of girls that could wear maxi skirts because the look is so classy, and it elongates the legs. But after my friend's relentless urging, I decided to try on a maxi skirt and to my surprise it fit perfectly! Granted, the model's picture has the skirt hitting a few inches above the ankle, and my skirt perfectly hits my ankles. This skirt is beautiful and simple, and I can't wait to wear it all summer with tanks, crops, and peter pan shirts.

7. Deena & Ozzy Purple Bag
While, I don't need yet another purse, this bag was so cute! Especially since it was on sale at UO, and it is in purple. The bag is large enough to fit all of my basic stuff, like my phone, my wallet, my keys, my notebook, and makeup, but the most important part is that it fits my DSLR camera.  And any bag that fits my camera is amazing, since it is a bit large.

This bag is super cute! It's really light weight and really durable. I plan to use this all summer to carry all my stuff when I go on bike rides, walks to the library, and music festivals. The backpack even has side pockets on the inside!

So there's the total of my mall damage this week. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear these. With a new wardrobe and a year of college behind mee, I am ready to enjoy this summer!

Want to know how I wear these? Or have any questions about them? Leave mee a comment!
Have any of these pieces or something similar? Let mee know how you wear yours!

"Hi, my name is..."

Diaries are meant to be private.
Which is amazingly difficult when you share a room and live with so many different people.

Journals are meant to be kept daily.
Which is ideal if I had that sense of memory and responsibility.

Blogs are meant to be shared.
& I invite you to join mee in my world.

18 years old. College student. Dreamer. Believer. Achiever.
I like to think I'm your typical  "normal" girl, but who really knows what normal is anymore. I have a group of friends, who are just as "normal" as mee, and who you will get to know along the way. My friends and my family surround mee with more love, pleasure, and support than I could ever ask for.

Music is a huge part of my life. Player of piano, fiddler of violin, beginner of ukelele, and master of iPod. As long as I can remember, I have been playing an instrument. Music does more than delight my senses, it conveys my thoughts and emotions. Concerts, bands, playlist ideas, and more constantly occupy part of my brain. I gladly wear the term "concert whore," with the pictures, tickets, autographs, and merch to prove it.

Art is another thing I can't live without too. Yeah, well isn't music art? I know music is art, but for mee art is a creative extension of oneself. Music is an art, but not for mee because I can't even pretend to claim that I can write songs or make my own music. I create art through my own photography, makeup,   and various crafts. Sometimes it's pretty... sometimes it's not. Either way, I always like it. Whether or not others do, well that's their choice.

However, being a college student means attempting to learn more, in order to establish myself and hopefully get a job. In other words, this means I live for the weekends and summer can never come sooner. Blogging is my escape, but we all know that escape doesn't always come easily... and frequently enough.

I'm really just a small girl trying to get through life and find meaning in this world, like you.

After all its a big world, and I'm just trying to be mee, Minnie Mee.
