I love my amazing friends! Because last Saturday, I went to Lincoln Park Zoo to see Plain White T's as a birthday gift! It was a super fun night; we drove into the city, ate at our favorite bakery Mandy B's, chilled in her apartment, and partied at the zoo.
The venue for the concert was in the Lincoln Park Zoo, hence the concert title Jammin' in the Zoo.
The radio station, 101.9 The Mix, sponsored the concert. The bands in the concert were The Super Happy Fun Club and the Plain White T's.
The Super Happy Fun Club was pretty amazing! I had never heard of them before, but I really like their sound! It is a mix between alt- pop and alt- punk. The tunes are really catchy and have a good beat. The singer seemed really serious and not too upbeat, which is ironic because of the band's name. (However, later I found out from some youtube videos that Stubhy, the singer, is really serious and the name is meant as a joke, since the rest of the band are all pranksters and chill guys.) I think the most amazing part was meeting the band after the show and having them all sign a poster and take a picture with mee!
Plain White T's was the main band of the concert. And I must say that my middle school dreams were not only realized but completely surpassed! Their sound was amazing and pretty much better than their CDs. Tom (the singer) was really upbeat and excited to play the show! He seemed to really enjoy himself, and he kept mentioning how this was their first hometown show in almost 3 years! Tim (the other singer, Tim Lopez) was also really chill and talked a little bit about being on the reality dating show and his current relationship with his girlfriend from the show. The band was super cute because they made fun of each other and had some jokes, like Tom was making fun of Tim's girlfriend, and Tim just responded with "and this is the last ever Plain White T's concert."
When the Blackhawks won their game, in the middle of the concert, PWT's stopped playing their song and began playing the Blackhawks song! It was super amazing because we all know now that the Blackhawks are the 2013 Stanley Cup Champions!
After the show I also got to meet Tim, and he signed my ticket! But the most amazing part was getting to see Tom Higgenson's son! He was super adorable and he asked us if we "like daddy's music." However, he was too shy to sing for us, even though Tom kept prompting him.
